Kålrabbi – Kohlrabi

They always look a bit extra-terrestrial to me, with their long antennas and heavy bodies. It is not a difficult plant to grow, but like most kale sorts, it is loved by slugs. This year, we grow white and purple kohlrabi for you and we fiercely put on our best defenses!

Storage
Cut of the leaves, so they don’t draw away moisture from the bulb. You can eat them as well, keep them in a wet cloth or a plastic bag in the fridge. Keep the bulb in the fridge for a week or even two.

Recipes

Kohlrabi can be eaten raw, cooked or pickled. The leaves can be eaten, too.

LEAVES
Sautéed Kohlrabi Greens
Stuffed with feta and tomato

BULB
In the early season crops the skin can be tender enough to eat but its usually worth giving them a quick peel and trimming off the root end.

Baked with almond and parsley crust
Kohlrabi steak
Salad with basil and parmesan
