A visit from us can be used to asses your garden to find the best spot, discuss design and planting plan for your new vegetable garden. If you have an existing garden, the consultation can be used to provide expert guidance in addressing any challenges you are facing in your garden, such as pest and disease control, irrigation issues or soil management.

Starting your own vegetable garden is easiest when well planned. Don’t know where to start? You can take these steps as a guideline. Steps 1-3 can best be done in winter or very early spring. Steps 4-6 are practical steps and done in spring.

1. Needs and Wants
Start by making a list with want you want and need. Witch vegetables to do want to grow? What is your soil quality? How does the sun move through the day? How much time do you want to spend in the garden? When are your last and first frost dates?

2. Make a sketch
Make a schematic sketch of your garden, with a layout of the gardening sections, water supply, tool shed and compost. Decide the length and width of your beds and paths and your crop rotation.

3. Plan your crops
Now you can make crop planning with pre-seeding, planting and harvesting dates. For each week, you know exactly what to do.

4. Site preparation and soil enrichment
Now you can prepare your site. Start with taking out grasses and plants you don’t want, clean up the site and put on compost and other mulches.

5. Planting and cultivation
Yes, time to start! Once the site is prepared, you can start planting and seeding.

6. Maintenance, pest and weed control
From now on you need to keep your garden ready and rich. There will always be something to do, like weeding or keeping off insects and other eaters. But you also get to harvest, re-plant and re-seed.
